How to read the results
Start with Google Jobs, then Indeed
Google pulls from most other boards at once, so it is the fastest way to see whether anything exists. Indeed carries the largest volume of private employer postings. If both come back thin, the job may only be posted on the employer’s own careers page, which is why the employers page on this site links directly to those.
The area picker drives every board, including the government ones
EdJoin and GovernmentJobs do not accept a mile radius, they filter by county and city, so changing the area here switches EdJoin to the right county rather than showing the whole state. That is why a school district job in San Bernardino was turning up before. CalCareers is the one exception: it only accepts a keyword from outside, so once you land there set the County filter to Sacramento yourself.
Government jobs will not show up properly on Indeed
CalCareers, USAJOBS, GovernmentJobs and EdJoin each run their own systems and only partially syndicate. If you want a state, federal, city, county or school district job, search those four directly. That is most of the pension jobs on this site.
Dealerships and small shops often post nowhere
A Ford or Honda store in Elk Grove may have an opening that never reaches a job board. Search the boards first, then go to the dealership group’s own careers page, and if it still looks empty, walk in and ask the service manager whether they need a lube tech. In the trades and at dealerships that still works.
Why the results open in a new tab instead of showing here
Job boards do not offer free public feeds anymore. Indeed retired its open API, LinkedIn never had one, and Google Jobs has no free access. Anything that scraped them would break within months and start showing dead listings, which is worse than showing none. Sending you into the real search keeps the results genuinely current.
