Resume and
application kit

Fill this in once. It builds three things you can copy straight into an application: a long federal resume for USAJOBS, a normal one-page resume for everyone else, and an apprenticeship worksheet for the trades. Everything saves on this device as you type.

Copy the title word for word from the posting. Screening software looks for it.
Trade apprenticeships specifically require one year of algebra, so have this ready.
One per line. If this is empty, get an OSHA-10 card this week.
Federal resumes are rejected without this.
One per line. Include numbers, tools and how often. Vague bullets are what kills these.
One per line. Include anything mechanical, even from working on cars at home.

Federal resume, for USAJOBS

Three to five pages is correct here. Do not shorten it. This is the version for the VA, WAPA, the Bureau of Reclamation, Beale AFB and USPS.

One-page resume, for everyone else

For SMUD, PG&E, P and G, Union Pacific, hospitals and every private employer on this site.

Apprenticeship worksheet

The trades ask the same questions and want the same documents in person. Fill this once and take it to all of them.
